Vantage Logistics: Cross-Border Oversized Cargo Transport Between Viet Nam and Cambodia
Vantage Logistics has completed a cross-border transportation scope for a shipment of steel structures and industrial machinery under the Haizhiguan (Cambodia) Industrial Factory project. The cargo was transported from Ho Chi Minh Port (Viet Nam) to Foison Giga SEZ (Svay Rieng, Campuchia) via dedicated road transport.

The success of the project lies not only in on-schedule delivery, but also in a disciplined operational process in response to infrastructure constraints and regulatory requirements along this corridor.

Project Highlights
  • Project name: Haizhiguan (Cambodia) Industrial Factory
  • Commodity: Steel structures, industrial machinery
  • Volume: 02 x 40’ Flat Rack (OOG cargo) + 03 x 40’ Containers
  • Port of Loading (POL): Ho Chi Minh Port, Viet Nam
  • Delivery Address: Foison Giga SEZ, Svay Rieng, Campuchia
  • Time of Shipment: 12/2025
  • Scope of Work:
    • In-transit customs clearance in Viet Nam
    • Import customs clearance in Cambodia
    • Inland trucking from Ho Chi Minh Port to jobsite

Oversized Cargo (OOG) Challenges

Transporting oversized (OOG) cargo across borders requires more than just having the right equipment.
  • Lashing Techniques & Centre of Gravity Calculation: With the use of Flat Rack (FR), the technical team carried out detailed calculations for each lashing point and load angle. This ensured that steel structures weighing tens of tonnes remained stable and secure against vibration and road impact throughout hundreds of kilometres of inland transport.
  • Route Survey and On-Site Assessment: The Ho Chi Minh – Svay Rieng route presents constraints in vertical clearance (overpasses, utility lines) and turning radius, particularly at border checkpoints. Thorough route surveys enabled the selection of suitable specialised trailers, minimising risks of congestion or infrastructure damage.
  • Speed and Safety Control: In project logistics, speed often introduces risk. All specialised vehicles were operated under strict speed control, prioritising cargo integrity and compliance with road safety regulations in both countries.

Synchronising Cross-Border Legal Procedures

In-transit cargo requires a clear understanding of both Vietnamese and Cambodian regulatory systems. Vantage Logistics acted as the coordinating bridge:
  • Completing in-transit customs procedures in Viet Nam with precise declaration and sealing
  • Handling import duties and customs clearance efficiently at Bavet border (Cambodia)
By aligning documentation and preparing contingency plans, cargo flow remained uninterrupted, reducing idle time at the border – typically the most cost-intensive phase in project logistics.

Ensuring Project Continuity at Destination

At Foison Giga SEZ, truck coordination and cargo offloading were executed in close alignment with the industrial zone management. This allowed the contractor to receive equipment and proceed with installation immediately, supporting the overall construction schedule.

Value Delivered Through Operational Discipline

At Vantage Logistics, successful project execution is built on risk anticipation and local understanding rather than broad claims. Every kilometre from Viet Nam to Cambodia was managed with control and accountability, turning the border into a connection point rather than a disruption.
