VANTAGE DEPLOYS SPECIALISED TRAILERS TO SUCCESSFULLY TRANSPORT OVERSIZED CARGO THROUGH COMPLEX VIETNAMESE INFRASTRUCTURE

Solution Built on Equipment Expertise and Route Control
Project completion was driven by the combination of hands-on experience and specialised equipment:

On-Time Delivery from Factory to Port – Eliminating Additional Costs
The shipment reached the port exactly as planned, enabling the client to avoid storage costs and demurrage/detention charges while securing the scheduled vessel.
In project logistics, timing directly impacts cost. This project confirms Vantage Logistics’ capability in handling heavy industrial cargo in Viet Nam, where every metre of transport requires calculated execution and experienced coordination.
Go Back
In project logistics, success is not measured by distance covered, but by precision in every technical decision. The WARTSILA C project, involving oversized steel structures, demonstrates Vantage Logistics’ ability to execute complex operations with accuracy under real infrastructure constraints in Viet Nam.
Project Highlights
Project Highlights
- Commodity: Steel structures
- Volume: 2 Breakbulk (BB) + 2 x 40FR + 1 x 40HC
- Including 4 oversized units with the following dimensions:
- 7.74mL x 4.48mW x 3.09mH – 3.7TONS
- 8.8mL x 5.6mW x 3.8mH – 5.6TONS
- 4.2mL x 3.6mW x 3.65mH – 5.3TONS
- 3.4mL x 2.8mW x 3.65mH – 3.7TONS
- Including 4 oversized units with the following dimensions:
- Port of Loading (POL): Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam
- Pickup Address: Dong Xuyen Industrial Zone, Viet Nam
- Time of Shipment: 01/2025
- Scope of Work: Cargo stuffing and inland transportation

The Challenge of Oversized Dimensions
The WARTSILA C shipment required strict technical planning, particularly for four oversized units measuring up to 5.6 metres in width and nearly 9 metres in length.
Transporting cargo that occupies an entire traffic lane from Dong Xuyen Industrial Zone (Vung Tau) to Ho Chi Minh Port created critical challenges in clearance control and equipment coordination. Every movement had to ensure cargo safety while complying fully with road transport regulations.

Solution Built on Equipment Expertise and Route Control
Project completion was driven by the combination of hands-on experience and specialised equipment:
- Optimisation with specialised trailers: Vantage deployed low-bed trailers and extendable trailers to handle oversized cargo. These configurations lowered the centre of gravity, allowing safe transit through height-restricted routes.
- Flexible multimodal coordination: The shipment combined standard containers (40HC), flat rack containers (FR), and breakbulk cargo. This approach maximised space utilisation while matching each cargo type with the most suitable transport method.
From Dong Xuyen IZ to Ho Chi Minh Port: A Metre-by-Metre Controlled Operation
The route was not just a transfer – it was a sequence of tightly managed steps:
The route was not just a transfer – it was a sequence of tightly managed steps:
- Pre-transport route surveys to validate compatibility with cargo and trailer dimensions
- Selection of appropriate equipment for each unit
- Movement scheduling aligned with traffic regulations
- Professional lashing techniques to ensure complete cargo stability

Integrated Transport Approach: Specialised Trailers and Container Solutions
Alongside inland transport using specialised trailers, the project applied a hybrid approach, Flat Rack (FR) for cargo suitable for containerisation and Breakbulk (BB) for oversized units that could not be containerised.
This ensured efficient space usage while maintaining cargo integrity across all transport stages.

Measurable Outcomes: Time, Cost, and Safety
The final results provide a clear measure of execution capability:
The final results provide a clear measure of execution capability:
- On-schedule delivery: All cargo arrived at port in line with the vessel schedule.
- Cost control: Just-in-time delivery eliminated storage charges and avoided demurrage/detention fees.
- Cargo integrity: Steel structures were delivered in perfect condition through precise lashing and controlled handling
