VANTAGE LOGISTICS SUCCESSFULLY DELIVERS OVER 5,000 MT OF BREAKBULK CARGO AND 1,400 TEUs ACROSS THE ASIA–EUROPE CORRIDOR, ON SCHEDULE FOR THE ETHANE TANKS PROJECT
In an effort to accelerate the construction progress of the Ethane tanks at Long Son Petrochemicals Complex, Vantage Logistics successfully executed an integrated multimodal transport solution, directly connecting cargo flows from five international ports across China and Europe to the project site, ensuring safe delivery and meeting strict timeline requirements.

Project Highlights
  • Commodity: Steel pipes, steel plates, and spare parts
  • Volume: 5,000 TONS of breakbulk (BBK) and 1,400 TEUs of containerised cargo
  • Port of Loading (POL): Shanghai, Shekou, Nansha, Xingang, Constanta
  • Port of Discharge (POD): Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam
  • Time of Shipment: From June 2025 to present
  • Delivery location: Long Son, Vung Tau, Viet Nam
  • Scope of Work: Receiving cargo under CFR terms at Cat Lai, Ben Nghe, and Lotus ports, followed by delivery to the project site under DDU terms

 1. Intercontinental Cargo Flow from Five International Ports

The Ethane tank installation project is a critical component requiring a large volume of materials and precise operational execution. Vantage Logistics took on the role of coordinating cargo flows from a strategic port network spanning East Asia to Southeast Europe:
  • Operational network: Connecting four major ports in China (Shanghai, Shekou, Nansha, Xingang) and Constanta (Romania) – a key gateway to Europe
  • Cargo scale: A total volume of 5,000 TONS of breakbulk cargo (including steel pipes, steel plates, and spare parts) and 1,400 TEUs of containers

The project required large volumes of materials transported from multiple international ports with differing vessel schedules and transit times, creating significant pressure on logistics coordination:
  • Variations in vessel schedules between Asia and Europe could result in cargo arrivals misaligned with construction requirements
  • Without proper control of arrival timing, the project could face increased demurrage and storage costs, or more critically, construction delays due to material shortages

2. Vantage Logistics’ Coordination Approach Under Time Constraints

  • Pre-deployment site survey
The team conducted detailed surveys covering cargo characteristics, handling conditions at ports and site, transport routes, and receiving capacity aligned with each construction phase. Based on these findings, tailored transport plans were developed for each cargo group, helping to control additional costs arising from storage or waiting time when cargo arrivals were not synchronised.

At the same time, delivery priorities were defined in line with the actual construction schedule, ensuring feasibility during execution.

  • Multi-country coordination and real-time vessel tracking
Vantage closely monitored vessel schedules across both Asia and Europe, updating data in real time. This ensured seamless intercontinental cargo flow and precise alignment of vessel arrivals at Vietnamese ports.

  • Cargo allocation aligned with construction progress
Instead of fragmented deliveries, Vantage implemented phased coordination based on construction requirements:
  • Prioritising cargo for critical installation phases
  • Adjusting delivery sequence according to actual receiving capacity at Long Son site
  • Maintaining continuous cargo supply while reducing storage pressure for the project owner

  • Parallel customs clearance and inland transportation
Customs documentation was prepared from the moment cargo departed the port of loading. Early processing enabled rapid clearance upon arrival at Cat Lai, Ben Nghe, and Lotus ports. Vantage’s dedicated trucking fleet remained on standby at the terminals to transport cargo directly to the site, optimising overall transit time.
  • Fast discharge during peak cargo arrivals
  • Delivery aligned with on-site demand
  • Avoidance of material congestion at the project site

The combination of international network coordination and flexible inland transport execution enabled Vantage Logistics to:
  • Ensure 100% of cargo delivered on schedule
  • Prevent construction disruptions caused by material shortages
  • Control logistics costs through effective management of port storage time

The successful delivery of thousands of tons of equipment from Asia–Europe routes demonstrates Vantage Logistics’ capability in maintaining a stable and controlled supply chain. Beyond transportation, Vantage provides comprehensive risk management solutions, supporting clients in maintaining project timelines under demanding conditions.
